EARTH'S WOBBLE (AXIAL INCLINATION) AND OUR SEASONS

Hello everyone!  I guess our beautiful autumn has been replaced with Mr. Nippy Jack Frost.

So our question of the week is: WHY DOES IT GET COLDER IN THE WINTER?

Ok, I know we all learned in elementary school the earth spines on its polar axis and has a slight wobble (axial inclination). This wobble is what makes the earth slowly move up and down as it spins, bringing us our seasons. When the earth is tipped ‘up’ and is farthest from the sun, the northern hemisphere is colder during that period. When the earth is tipped ‘down’ the northern hemisphere is warmer, and visa-versa for the southern hemisphere. Nothing new there.

However, did you know scientists, both secular and creationists, have come up with different theories of when and how the wobble started. A common secular theory is when the exploding dot first formed all the stars and planets, earth did not have a wobble. After a questionable number of millennium, a gigantic asteroid hit the earth causing the wobble.  Another common theory amongst creationist is, during the flood, when the oceanic ridge opened up and released the water from under, it caused the inclination.

But the good news is, by going to the bible, God has recorded for us exactly when the earths axial inclination began. Genesis 1:14 tells us “And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years.”

So you see, the establishment of seasons indicates that the earth was formed with a wobble from the beginning, for this is the basic source of the seasons.

i implore you to enjoy the beauty of frost, snow and seeing your breath in the air! It is all part of God’s wonderful plan.

Until next time!
God Bless you all!
Willow
