UFOs, EXTRATERRESTRIALS, ALIENS, SATAN AND THE BIBLE PART II

DEAR READERS...I AM, ONE OF THESE DAYS, GOING TO MOVE MY SIGHT...UNTIL THEN, JUST ENJOY IT HERE!

How are all you fine folks out there doing today?

I am well, and amazed by the beautiful footage of the meteor that came hurling through earth’s atmosphere on Friday.  Seven hundred people were reported injured, mostly from broken glass caused by the ground vibration of the impact. This was an impressive, real visitor from outer space!

So what of UFOs? Has earth ever had intelligent life visiting from outer space? Have people really observed UFOs? Certainly we have some photo documentation of such things…but are these sightings really extraterrestrials? First, let’s remember what UFO stands for; Unidentified Fly Object. Ninety percent of all sightings can be explained away as hoaxes, weather balloons, government experiments, swamp gases, reflections from satellites, and bioluminescence given off by various animals (i.e. fireflies and firefly predators), etc.. But what about the other ten percent? Could UFOs in the extraterrestrial sense be true?

Unidentified round, cigar shaped and even ‘layered’ objects have been reported and some even photographed. Interestingly, there always is a surge of reports after a popular book or movie comes out on aliens. For example, “Prior to Close Encounters of the Third Kind [1977] reports of alleged aliens with long thin necks were non-existent. After the film, they became common. Before the film, the eyes were human-like with a pupil and iris with white surrounds. Afterwards, they were black, slanted and much larger—an image that endures today.” (Excerpt from Alien Intrusion, chapter 1, “The Invasion is Underway”.)1

Erich von Däniken authored the book The Chariots of the Gods in 1968. The book stated that ancient artifacts were evidence of alien visitations to early earth. However, when solid rebuttals by creationist Clifford Wilson’s Crash Go the Chariots and others pointed out the fallacies of his claims, von Däniken went into retreat. “He is not highly regarded by the serious UFO community and is often dismissed as a populist UFO hoaxer.” Nevertheless, as is typical with evolution, the book is often read as fact. And the author has since persisted by building a huge ET museum complex in Interlaken, Switzerland.

However, sometimes the reports of sightings and abductions seem to have no natural explanation. For example, such reports can have surprising similarities, even though the people giving the reports can be separated by oceans, cultural influences and unfamiliarity of other witnesses’ reports. “Those who report sightings and abductions are changed people. ‘Real or otherwise, ‘abductees’ and their perception of the world are forever altered. Many develop a strange interest in the occult and supernatural.’” Many will speak openly about visitations, even stating they have met Jesus which is a common theme among abductees. Most of these people, when confronted with inconsistencies in their interpretations, brush off that point or change subjects. Their state of mind is dangerously close to being brainwashed. Could they then have been brainwashed by aliens?

I believe not. Research has linked stories of abductions with ancient demonology. Research has also shown that those who claim to be religious, but are not connected to a church, are very open to the idea of extraterrestrial life. For such people, UFOology becomes a substitute for religion. People who don’t know Jesus and His power, can be easily fascinated and deceived by all sorts of phenomenon. Extraterrestrial interest has produced its own occultic religion.

So what does scripture say? First, the word teaches us that life can only come from creation (see previous blogs). Scripture does not mention extraterrestrial visits, and if God had created life elsewhere that was going to make an appearance on earth someday, He surely would have enlightened us. “For thus saith the Lord that created the heavens; God himself that formed the earth and made it; he hath established it, he created it not in vain, he formed it to be inhabited: I am the Lord; and there is none else.” (Isaiah 45:17-19) God is not a God of confusion. And He had given us some pretty specific details about our future.

There is, my friends however, another kingdom out there; that of the devil and his minions.  Satan is the “prince of the power of the air,” (Ephesians 2:2) and his reign is on earth. God has given us many warnings about the deceitfulness of satan. “Whose coming is according to the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders, and with all deceit of unrighteousness in those who perish, because they did not receive the love of the truth, so that they might be saved. And for this cause God shall send them strong delusions, that they should believe a lie.” (2 Thess. 2:9-11). Jesus also warns us in Matthew 24:4 to “Take heed that no man deceive you.” “It could be that behind those unexplainable UFO reports there is the work of the arch-deceiver.”2

And how can we keep from being deceived? Study the Word of God. Get to know the God of creation who is all powerful, fights for you and has a beautiful kingdom that He wants you to spend eternity in with Him.
Until next time, God bless and take care!

This week in the night skies: “At this time of year, the Big Dipper stands on its handle in the northeast during evening. The top of the Dipper — the two Pointer stars pointing left to Polaris — are now at exactly Polaris's height around 8 p.m. (depending on where you live in your time zone).”  For those in the southern hemisphere, as we slowly head towards solar maxmum in mid 2013, we can expect to see an increasing frequency of aurora. Tasmania, King Island and Southern Victoria are the most likely places to see this phenomenon.
