STUNNING DISCOVERIES IN SCIENCE
THAT HAVE SCIENTISTS
DISPOSED TOWARD BELIEVING IN A CREATOR
Hey, hey everyone! How has your week been? Mine has been fine…the nights are cooling down, so glad for the relief in the heat! With autumn just around the corner in the northern hemisphere I am so excited for the changes. And for those of you in the southern hemisphere I’m sure you are just as excited for the warming temperatures and onset of flowers!
Speaking of changes, many in the secular scientific community are undergoing a change of thought as to the question, is there a God. Three discoveries; two in astronomy and one in molecular biology have been the key to answering that question. They are 1) the universe had a one time beginning, 2) the universe is just right for life, and 3) DNA coding reveals intelligence.
The Hubble telescope has over the years discovered a billion, trillion stars. With our unaided eyes we can only see about six thousand stars. Even so, prior to the 20th century, the majority of scientists believed our galaxy, the Milky Way, was the entire universe. They thought only about 100 million stars existed. These scientists of the past believed that the universe always existed, that there was no beginning.
However in the early 1900’s astronomer Edwin Hubble realized that the universe is expanding. He used calculus to measure everything as he rewound time backwards and discovered everything “including matter, energy, space and even time itself, actually had a beginning.”1
At first the scientific community reacted negatively, including Albert Einstein. However later, Einstein freely admitted to altering his equations to make it seem like the universe had no
beginning, calling that, “the biggest blunder of my life.”2
Also Sir Frederick Hoyle, a British astronomer, was one of the most adamant adversaries of the timed-universe. He was the one who coined the phrase, “the Big Bang,” in an attempt to mock Creation and the belief the universe had a beginning.
But despite all of this, it eventually became evident “that something or Someone beyond scientific investigation must have started it all. Then finally, in 1992, the COBE satellite experiments proved that the universe really did have a one-time beginning in an incredible flash of light and energy.” Many scientists including Robert Jastrow, and George Smoot, the Nobel Prize winning scientist in charge of the COBE experiment, were struck by the parallel of a one-time
creation event from nothing, with the biblical creation account in Genesis 1:1. “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.” The secular scientific community finally had to admit that from all the incredible, finely tuned astronomical evidence Someone must have had a hand in creating it. So they came up with terms such as a Super-intellect, Creator, Intelligent Designer, and even Supreme Being.
Whether or not these one time atheists now believe in the God of the Bible, is up to the individual. Some scientists see the awesome Light and come to the conclusion it indeed is
true, while others want to believe in a generic Super-intellect.
So I ask you…if you were to put Genesis 1:1 into modern scientific terminology, how would it read? Keep in mind that these modern terms were not around when the Bible was written.
Here is a comparison:
“In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.” Genesis 1:1 as it is written.
God created time (the beginning), space (heavens), and matter (earth). Genesis 1:1 utilizing modern scientific terminology.
Pretty simple, straight forward and scientific. Next week we will look into either one or both of the other two incredible discoveries that have rocked the scientific community.
Until then, God bless and take care!
