7-1-13 WORLD HISTORY BIBLE CHRONOLOGY PART XIV DINOSAURS, DRAGONS AND FOSSILS

Hello everyone!

Another week has passed and we are one step closer to those hot mid-summer days or freezing mid-winter if you are in the southern hemisphere! God has put into motion the wonderful tilt of the earth’s axis which brings about our amazing seasons.

It is in response to these seasons throughout different climates of the Post-Flood earth that the animals—through genes they already possessed from the beginning—were able to adapt to an unstable world. This included dinosaurs. However, not all dragons were the same. It is now thought that some dinosaurs are actually warm-blooded while others are extinct true reptiles. Let’s take a look…

The most powerful evidence we have is when scripture, ancient literature/depictions, eyewitness reports and paleontological evidence all come together. For example, Job 30:29 says “I am a brother to dragons, and companion to owls.” Also Isaiah 43:20 states, “The beast of the field shall honour me, the dragons and the owls…” What are the authors saying? Literally they are statements referring to night hours of whence owls and dragons (at least that particular species of dinosaur) are active.

Extra biblical resources also back up this behavior. Marco Polo, known best for his exploration of China during the 13th century, wrote in his notes of a dragon who’s “eyes are bigger than a great loaf of bread.” Also Alexander the Great wrote from his exploit to India of a serpent that lived in a cavern. When his troupes passed the cave—having been warned by the local population not to bother it—the beast hissed and snorted terrifying his troupes. The creature stuck its head out of the cave and it's

eyes were “the size of a large round Macedonian shield.” Several Medieval authors discussed huge night flying creatures including the classic Beowulf which mentions flying dragons that emit blasting fire at night. Another reference to dinosaur activity at night is from an account from Athanasius Kircher, a 17th century writer. He describes, “On a warm night in 1619, while contemplating the serenity of the heavens, I saw a shining dragon of great size in front of Mt. Pilatus, coming from the opposite side of the lake [or 'hollow'], a cave that is named Flue [Hogarth-near Lucerne] moving rapidly in an agitated way, seen flying across; It was of a large size, with a long tail, a long neck, a reptile’s head, and ferocious gaping jaws.”1 Yet another ancient  historian, Aelian, wrote about the flying snakes: “Megasthenes states that in India there are … snakes (ophies) with wings, and that their visitations occur not during the daytime but by night.”2

Eyewitness accounts of “ropens” in Papua New Guinea also reveal large night flying serpents or reptiles. Crypto zoologist Dave Woetzel writes “It is my contention that the similarities in the several independent lines of evidence produce a powerful argument for a living pterosaurs [dragons] in Papua New Guinea. An Australian pilot’s photo, an American WWII veteran’s testimony, a Highland PNG native’s sculpture, dozens of eye witness reports from Umboi and the Manus islands combine to make a strong case!”3
NOTE THE EYE RING

And of course there is paleontological evidence of several species of dragons including pterosaurs that have unusually large eye orbits. Large eye orbits can only mean large eyes, which all true nocturnal animals have for obvious reasons.

When you do the math…the numbers add up! All evidence points to co-existence between man and dragon/dinosaurs. Next week we will take a look at other scriptures that refer to dinosaurs and their habits.

Until then, God Bless and take care!

This week in the night skies: Sunday, June 30, in the Last Quarter Moon. This is the second last quarter moon this month. It rises around 12:45 a.m. and sets around 2:15 p.m. It is most easily seen just after sunrise in the southern sky.
