DO ANGELS HAVE POWER
Hi guys how is everyone? I am well, tired with no relief in sight, lol! But I have left you all behind enough and the Lord has given me a boost today so I wanted to write a little more about this fascinating subject of angels.
So our question this week is do angels have supernatural powers like the way the Lord has given me a little extra strength today.
Scripture tells us in many different places of how powerful angels are. The following are only a few examples. Second Kings 19:35, 1 Chronicles 21:12, 1 Chronicles 21:15, and Isaiah 37:36 all describe cities that have been destroyed by angels carrying out the command of God. And Acts 12:23 tells us of angels that smote people. Second Chronicles 32:21 talks of angles that cut off men in battle, and Psalm 34:7 relates how angels encamp around the enemies of God. They are strong (Rev 5:2), can wrestle with men (Hosea 12:4), carry swords (Num 22:31, 1Cro 21:16, 27 and 30),
prophecies (Luke 1:13, Judges 13:3), shut the mouths of lions (Dan 6:22), walk over all the earth (Zec 1:1), and sever the wicked from the just (Math 13:49). They can come upon people and shine with God’s glory (Luke 2:19 and 13, Acts 12:7), can ascend in flames (Judges 13:20) and even open the eyes of men to the spiritual world (Num 22:31) and cause earthquakes (Math 28:2). And 2 Peter 2:11 out right tells us angels have great power and Psalm 103:20 states angels excel in strength! Furthermore they have the ability to travel at incredible speeds (Dan 9:21) and are present at every believers earthly death to deliver them into the presence of the Lord (Luke 16:22, 2 Corth 5:8).
Wow! That’s a lot! Do we ever see this kind of angelic strength displayed today? Well, just ask those who have been in auto accidents where angels have intervened. For example in Crawford Texas on a rainy day, a woman driving a SUV lost control and it hit an oncoming car and both rolled multiple times landing upside down. Two people stopped when they saw the accident and know they had to get the drivers out quickly as flames began to mount. The male bystander gave a knife to the woman trapped in her car and she cut through her seat belt landing on the roof. He wiggled back out of the crushed car and then reached in and grabbed the woman’s hands to pull her out. But he stopped because there was only an eight inch opening and the woman’s weight prevented her from fitting through. The woman bystander prayed for angles to help and suddenly another set of white glowing hands appeared over the man’s hands gripping both the rescuer and the victim. The next thing anybody knew, the woman and her
rescuer where outside the car on the grass next to the praying woman. The two rescuers then went to the other car and saw there was no way to get the man out. Then suddenly the man, who had been strapped in his seatbelt hanging upside down emerged from the vehicle surrounded by a bright white light in the shape of two hands and floated to the ground away from the car. When professional help arrived they put out the fire and tended to the two victims. The female rescuer turned around and saw a huge rainbow over the accident scene.
Interestingly enough Psalm 91:9-12 says “For He shall give His angels charge over you, To keep you in all your ways. In their hands they shall bear you up, Lest you dash your foot against a stone.”
Another incident happened to Bruce Barado also involved a vehicle. This time it was a massive 18 wheel Peter-built truck. Bruce is a truck mechanic and was just finishing up his day when a co-worker asked him to check out one more truck. Bruce went under the truck’s front end feet first. When he was half way under the vehicle, the stand supporting the 10,000 pound truck gave way and came down on Bruce’s middle. Bruce was conscious and in excruciating pain but managed to look at his body. He could see
These are just two examples of many, many angel encounters in today’s world. Yes, angels are powerful and “are intensely interested in all of God’s plans and in our own individual roles in those plans—“which things the angels desire to look into” (I Peter 1:12). They (also) serve as guardian angels (Psalm 34:7; 91:11)…”1
Perhaps it would be good to remember in our prayers to thank God for His angels who have charge over us.
Until next time, God bless and take care,
Willow Dressel
